What If…

I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. Some of the most incredible human accomplishments have happened because somebody asked the question; “What if _______?”  It’s why we have electricity and running water. It’s why Chick Fil A is so tasty and doesn’t open on Sunday. It’s why you are reading this on the screen you have in front of you. It’s why you were able to see someone land whatever ridiculous spinny flippy grabby trick you last saw on Youtube. When we ask the question, what if______? we open ourselves to the possibility of something new. 

The Apostle Paul had a pretty incredible transformation experience with Jesus. He was honest and knew that he didn’t have his life all put together. Even in the midst of his messy missionary life, he knew he needed Jesus more than anything else. He could’ve written to the church in Philippi telling them to set some lofty goals, develop a stellar strategic plan, and shoot for the stars. But he didn’t do that. No. Paul urged them – and I’m encouraging you – make Jesus the focus of your life.
