Remember the Ede family? We shared about them in June. They felt called to move to Jindabyne to be the light of Jesus at Thredbo. Well… have we got an update for you!
Anna Schrafft, SFC’s Australian National Coordinator, felt strongly that she was supposed to make a road trip down to Jindabyne before the end of the season. She wasn’t sure when but prayed for God to make it clear to her about when and if she should go. After a series of life events, the perfect weekend became available. In typical SFC fashion, Anna was welcomed into the Ede’s home as if she were part of the family.
Throughout the weekend, Anna hung out with Josh, Nicki, and their three kids. She had the opportunity to hear more about their hearts for Thredbo and get updates on how ministry has been going. At the beginning of the season, the Edes were working hard to get access to the resort chapel at the base of Thredbo to host an Alpha Group. After much effort, they got the keys! Until now, this chapel has not been used much. Now, thanks to Josh and Nicki, there is a very active Alpha Group meeting there!
During Anna’s stay, she visited The Village Church with The Ede’s. This past June, we shared about this church. It started during Covid-19. They have a family service at 4:00 PM and then a later service at 6:00 PM for seasonal workers so they can go to church when they get off the hill! The church is still small, but they feel it is growing and has momentum. The entire Ede family has gotten involved in the church and community there.
Anna shared, “It felt encouraging to see a whole family on a mission together.” She is excited to see there is momentum in Jindabyne. The Edes are already brainstorming ways outside of Alpha and their church to serve the community in Jindy. Nicki and Josh own a photography business. They are trying to figure out how to incorporate this in their ministry.
Prayer request-
It is tough to get long-term housing in Jindabyne. The Edes want a place to host people and a Bible study, but they can’t get a stable house. Pray for a stable, long-term, spacious home for them.
Nicki and Josh have begun passing out chocolates once a week to the lifties, similarly to what Copper Church members do at Copper Mountain. Pray for good conversations and connections to come from these efforts.
