AMP CAMP
NEVERJETNO, UNBELIEVABLE, is how I would describe this camp! It was so much fun, and the conditions were prime! For 4 days and 3 nights, 8 Christian and 27 non-Christian kids gathered on the slopes of Krvavec in Slovenia for another edition of the legendary AMP CAMP! As some of you know, I recently moved to Slovenia, so this camp was close to my heart! There is no way I would miss the opportunity to ride with my fellow Slovenian boys and girls and share the gospel with them!
Boardgames were on every table, a poker game was in the back (amicable, of course), and laughter and joy could be heard throughout the room! On the slopes, we were blessed on the first day with the smallest park we’ve ever seen: two boxes, a tube, and a PVC pipe. Despite the size, we hiked that park till our bodies were soaked from the rain! Thankfully, after the first night, we were blessed by snowfall instead of rain. It was much more snow than expected. We got to enjoy some powder runs through 40-50 cm of pure joy! Due to the fresh snow on the last shred day, our very own Drew Loring (who shared his experience at Amp Camp in our previous blog post) built a massive kicker and taught the kids how to backflip! The stoke level was through to the moon!
Our camp leader, Klemen, shared the gospel message with the kids attending each night. For some kids, it was their first time hearing the gospel message! Every night, after each talk, we divided into small groups to break down and discuss the message. The messages deeply resonated with many of the kids. Campers expressed that they see the brokenness of this world and are longing for an alternative! Night-time breakouts were not the only place conversations about the gospel happened. Many discussions were held on the slopes, over lunch, and by the campfire on the last day. There is nothing like gathering a bunch of shred-loving, curious kids together for a week of camp and sharing the gospel. God is moving in Slovenia!
LAAX CAMP
ALL RIGHT!!!!! I am so happy that after years of silence, the wonderful people of SRS (German-based Christian sports ministry) and their action sports team, Unbound, have found new volunteers to organize a snow event to bring together Christian and non-Christian Germans to the slopes!
This first edition was a sweet one. After SRS had supported the SFC movement in Europe in the past few years, we could return the favor and send out a small delegation of SFCers to support the “new” guys. It felt like a family gathering, and brothers and sisters who had known each other for years were stoked to come together in this setting at the wonderful P60 Park. This was not an intro to faith weekend, but a strengthening of each other, fueled by testimonies and sharing of hardships.
It was a life-giving weekend. I am so glad to call these people my friends, and I pray for many more weekends to come! Check them out at @we_live_unbound
