1 Peter 1:24-25: People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever.
For me, snowboarding has been one of the great passions in my life. Every year I eagerly await the first snowfall and have a crazy sense of joy when it finally shows up. It gives me an opportunity to go out and play with this beautiful aspect of God’s creation. Last season, I remember there was an early season storm up on the peaks nearby where I was living, so I packed up my gear and headed for the mountains. The excitement was high and we had an incredible time meeting new friends and hitting some tiny rails on top of a mountain (not exactly up to most resorts’ standards).
The key to remaining fulfilled through all seasons has little to do with the flowers that bud up at certain times and then fade away, but it has everything to do with remaining in His presence consistently through all seasons!
Fast forward to the end of January… the days were short and it became very difficult to find that same excitement in the midst of working full time and never having days off with my friends. It was then that I could really see the meaning of this passage. Even the most incredible things on this earth were never meant to fulfill us completely. God purposefully made us in a way that we can only be truly fulfilled by His presence! While snowboarding is one of my favorite things to do, I know that its excitement is like a flower in the field, and it will fade away… But it’s only through Him and His word that we are fulfilled completely! Continue seeking Him through all seasons and you will never be left unfulfilled or without joy!

How can God give me fulfillment in all seasons when nothing else can?
Where do you seek your fulfillment on a daily basis?
What keeps you from seeking God on a daily basis?
