At SFC, we’re working to build a global culture of our six B.R.I.D.G.E. Values. Over the next 6 weeks, we’d like to share a story that highlights one of these values. This story from our chapter leader in Spokane, Washington, Philip Schulz, demonstrates the Value of Believing.
City Ride Camp
This winter, SFC Spokane had it’s second annual City Ride Camp. At CRC, we partner with Youth For Christ to provide an opportunity for kids from at risk and low income neighborhoods to have a chance to get on the mountain and learn to snowboard and ski, while also seeking opportunities to love these kids and encourage them towards BELIEVING IN Jesus.
It was awesome to see God’s power and provision as we planned for this camp. From gear to food to lift tickets, everything was provided by volunteers and the Mt. Spokane resort. The camp went for three days and two nights, and 25 kids showed up from all walks of life and snowboard/ski ability levels. The forecast for the weekend was looking wet and rainy, and we were worried about the weather ruining these kids’ times on the mountain. Naturally, we prayed about it, and God dropped the temps a bit so that what was suppose to be rain turned into light, soft snow that was great for the kids to learn.
One of the great things about City Ride Camp is that it provides an opportunity for people in our snow community to serve others. From park rats to ski instructors and everyone in between, we had people who might not normally associate with each other come together to serve these kids.
We are excited to continue these camps in the future, and we BELIEVE that God is going to keep doing radical things in people’s lives through them. We hope that we can grow the camp, bring more people in our community to be involved and demonstrate our BELIEF in a personal, generous God by our examples.
Help SFC BRIDGE
You’ll receive one story about how God is working in the ski and snowboard culture each week for the next six weeks. We’re also going to update you on our financial journey. We want to ensure that more stories like this keep happening, but we need your help. Right now we only have $45,000 left to raise to meet our needs for the year (ending June 30th). Would you pray about joining us to keep THE LIGHT ON THE HILL?
