Partners in ministry are a blessing. How cool is it that others are looking to minister to people through action sports?! SFC has been partnered with an incredible European organization, SRS-Unbound, for a long time. This partner seeks out adventure seekers, connects with them through extreme sports and action sports, and shares about Jesus.
Lukas Hutter, a long-time SFCer in Germany, is an avid park rider. He LOVES Laax in Switzerland. He is also involved with SRS-Unbound. Lukas got involved in action sports ministry because of his dad. His father used to plan snowboard and ski weekend camps to gather believers on the hill and share the light of Jesus. Lukas has followed in his footsteps and, for the first time in 6 years, planned a SRS-UnBound snowcamp. Unfortunately, he injured his shoulder recently and could not attend the weekend of the camp, but his childhood friend Paul and an SRS-Unbound staff member, Tabea, graciously took over for him.
The camp consisted of two full days of riding. Ryan, an SFC Support Office staff who attended, shared, “It was such an encouraging environment. Everyone was coaching and helping each other perfect skills and learn new tricks.” In the evenings, they gathered for dinner and a program. The first night, they shared different things they were all struggling with and broke into small groups to pray. The second night, they closed off the weekend by sharing different ways everyone has seen God working in their lives.
Ryan shared, “Anytime I go overseas, I am always encouraged by the fact that God is putting similar things on people’s hearts all around the world. It was encouraging to hear that many Europeans have the same heart for using action sports to reach people with the gospel. Unbound and SRS want to create spaces for people to enjoy sports and connect with God.” Ryan shared that seeing how many leaders he’s known for years had grown in their faith and leadership skills was fantastic.
