“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105
“Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.” Psalm 25:4-5
“In the beginning the Word, already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1
It is so important that each day we spend intentional time with Jesus and our Father. Hanging out and going skiing/riding in the snow and in His beautiful mountain creation and going to church on Sundays occasionally just isn’t enough. A great way to start each day is to get into the word and make it a routine. Take 30 to even 15 minutes to read the bible. We can always take time out of busy schedules any time during the day too. How often do we be watch that latest show on Netflix or watching that awesome new shred flick when instead we should be spending time with Him. When you spend time with God and in His word the bible really comes alive, doesn’t it? I always knew that reading the Bible was important and churches always say that you should read your bible but how to read the bible? The bible has so many different versions, so many stories, and so many chapters; there is the Old Testament and the New Testament, where do I even start? If the word guides my feet on the right path, what path am I going on if I’m not taking time out of my busy day to spend time with the creator of Heaven and Earth?
I’m just a shredder, I don’t read the bible and it can be overwhelming especially if we don’t have a clue how to read it but don’t make excuses or that your too tired from the big shred day. The word does truly become alive and does guide our feet like it says in Psalms, once we understand its content and whom it’s written for. First find a version you can understand like NIV, NLV, NKJ or even the Message. There is multiple ways we can read the bible. You could start to read it from cover to cover from Old Testament to the New Testament, just random pages you feel lead to read. First start with the New Testament readings of the four gospels of different perspectives and eye witnessing of Jesus life from the book of John, Matthew, Mark and Luke. There is incredible stories throughout the bible from the old covenant with God about Adam & Eve, Joseph, Moses, King David, King Solomon, the prophets and after Jesus rose from the dead with the start of the church with Peter, Paul and the apostles within the new covenant with God.
The “Word” is ALIVE. The “Word” LIGHTS my PATH.
Be encouraged, this is your adventure with God and His Word will come Alive. God is always available for us anytime, anywhere and in fact, is probably waiting on you already to spend quality time with you together. It is privilege to be able to spend our quite time with him. Getting into His word is a lifetime journey and you will never stop learning that will give you insight, wisdom, joy and encouragement. His word is very clear, gives us our boundaries with clear instructions for us to live Godly lives. God charter loving character is still the same yesterday, today and tomorrow but Jesus restored that so we could relationship with our Father, which is so sick for us snow shredders and for all people! When you start making it a daily routine the Holy Spirit will guide your path and the word will truly come alive. Study it, learn it, love it, live it and start applying to your daily life at home, at work and out on the hill.
Challenge
How can I make reading the bible become a daily routine?
What can I do different to make time in my life to read the word?
Ask a friend or family member or join a group of other believers to read the bible together with to challenge each other and hold each other accountable. This week, this month, start making it a daily habit and routine to spend time with Jesus and our Father even if it is for 15 minutes. If we are having trouble, get up a little earlier in the quite still morning air before you go up riding or take away all those distractions like the TV, computer or our phones. Make it a priority and a routine. Get a journal too and write down whatever you feel God is speaking to you. You may come back to it later and find those many God moments start to come alive in your life.
