Each May, SFCers from all across Europe gather to shred, reconnect, and reflect on the season. Returning to a crowd favorite, the Euro Season Ender took place at Kaunertal Glacier in Austria. SFC’s very own European Director, Cedric “Shredric” Leung and his wife Marija put together a weekend of fellowship, worship, encouragement, and of course… shredding!
While riding was a huge part of the event, sharing the ways God worked throughout the winter season was key as well. One night, Cedric asked everyone to gather in groups of 3-4 to share the ways they saw God working this past season. Ryan Leeds, SFC’s Director of Leadership Training, said he was encouraged by two different leaders’ unique ways they ministered this season. “Europe operates in such a Post-Christian context that you have to get creative with ministry there,” Ryan commented.
The second night of the event, everyone walked up the road from Hotel Tia Monte for a bonfire and night of worship. At first, everyone was hesitant because rain was in the forecast. They decided as a group to go anyway, and though it did end up raining, everyone had a special time of worship.
A large number of girls attended the Season Ender, which created an encouraging environment for female riders. Tabea, who works for SRS, a long-time partner of SFC, told some girl friends about the Ender. Many girls ended up coming and connected over faith in Jesus and love for the people in the shred culture. Not to mention their shared love for backcountry skiing! One of the girls shared that she suffered all winter with severe migraines that kept her from being out on the snow. After attending a clinic, she was able to get back out on the snow for the first time at the Ender!
All in all, it was a great winter season in Europe. Thanks to everyone who joined for the Ender and served this season with SFC. Until next winter!
