“O Lord God, you have only begun to show your servant your greatness and your mighty hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as yours?” Deuteronomy 3:24 ESV
Here is a man (Moses) who has arguably seen God show up in more crazier ways than anyone. As well as had more “we’re doomed” moments. But, because of this he also had many faith building moments. How many times he felt like a fool because Moses told his people he’s going to lead his people out of Israel and then Pharaoh would say, “NO.” The Israelites were about to be trampled by Egyptians and God stops them with a pillar of fire and parts the Red Sea. They were starving and God provides food for them in the desert for 40 years. God won countless battles for them when victory looked impossible.
Moses lived in a day where people had many other gods, just like today’s culture. But he saw the Great I Am do His thing. He understood that God had the power to do the unthinkable, the unimaginable to accomplish His will.
I saw in a two-year period some of the most incredible miracles after my father, my childhood hero, had a shootout with the police and took 8 bullets to his body, which included 3 to the face. We lost all power to control the situation and had to rely on God the whole time. Miraculously my father survived and God worked out really big disasters to be an incredible turn of events. Guess who got the glory?
So often we are in a place of despair, whether death is staring us in the face, great loss is happening or about to happen, or you just feel alone in the world. The great I AM consistently uses those moments to take disaster and turn it into moments of His greatness. Moments that take great faith get great miracles.
Challenge
- Take a moment to reflect on where the greatest moments you have seen God show up. We all have them, but sometimes we just need to recognize them or remember them! Oh how quickly we forget like the Israelites.
- What ways are you trying to control a bad situation instead of leaning on God?
- Where is an area in your life where you could be laying your burdens on Jesus?
