27 kids… all their gear, aspirations, skills, and curiosity in one place at one time with a bunch of Jesus-loving, shredder adults. It’s a perfect recipe for a weekend of ministry and fun.
Drew Loring, SFC Support Office Staff, shortly after attending the Laax SRS-Unbount event in Switzerland, made the journey over to Slovenia to help Cedric Leung, SFC’s European Director, and his wife Maria, run a weekend snow camp for youth from across Slovenia. Out of the 27 kids who rallied for this event, over half don’t know Jesus.
Drew reported back two days into the camp that each day, as he shreds with these kids, he’s had the chance to hear about their lives and learn their stories. He said many of them have revealed in conversation the emptiness they are feeling chasing after worldly things.
While connection and relationship building is happening on the hill during the day, deep, spirit-filled conversations are taking place by night. Drew shared that after shredding and sharing dinner, the kids and camp leaders gather to listen to a short gospel message and break out into small groups to discuss what they heard. Some kids in Drew’s group know Jesus, but many don’t—a few even practice other religions.
Drew says, “I’m getting to experience kids searching! Some of the kids have been reading the Bible independently because they are just curious and wrestling with life and the darkness they are experiencing. It has been really cool the amount of time we have gotten to share about Jesus with these kids.”
The camp is only halfway through, and we can’t wait to share more with you from Cedric’s perspective!
