To the volunteers, participants, sponsors and well-wishers of the Secret Spot Team Challenge,
We regret to inform you that the Secret Spot Team Challenge on January 23rd has been canceled. The COVID restrictions were too much for the event to handle. It pains us to have to cancel this fun, engaging, community-driven mental health event during what may go down as the single most difficult year for the world’s general state of mental health that any of us will remember. It feels like a defeat to have to cancel another event. It’s disappointing to have to wave the white flag and feel like yet another thing has been taken away by this tragic year. That being said, we are people that refuse to back down and people that insist on getting back up with new light in our eyes. Like the Beastie Boys once said, “Trying to change the world, I’m gonna plot and scheme.” So let’s get creative and scheme up a way to do some good in our world.
There are still lots of helpful ways to plug in and lean into good, wholesome community across the ski and snowboard world this winter. We just want you to know that we are here for you because YOU are worth fighting for. And the same way that gold is refined in a fire to burn out its impurities, this year of 2020 is making us all stronger, brighter and more valuable. Choose community and choose to share what you’re feeling. The stigma around suicide and mental health SUCKS, so let’s TALK IT OUT together.
